Title:Hyperbolic conservation laws: a perspective on some known results and open problems
Introduction:Prof. Bianchini是non-linear partial differential equations的專家; 他在non-linear partial differential equations及其相關領域都有重要的貢獻。比如說,他利用non-linear partial differential equations的技巧研究conservation laws上面的existence of solutions, stability, singular approximations, regularity等問題,得到許多重要結果。最近,Prof. Bianchini利用幾何測度論的方法,更能刻劃許多PDE的解的性質。他的研究工作涉及到分析的許多面向並有很大的原創性,敬邀大家踴躍參加。
Abstract: In this lecture I will introduce the class of mathematical models which are the hyperbolic systems of conservation laws. The paradigm of these systems are the Euler equation of gas dynamics, but in general whenever a quantity is conserved a conservation law appear. In one space dimension the theory is well developed, and I will introduce some of its main tools, as well as discuss some of the remaining open problems. In multi-d, instead, so far the results are pretty much negative, but for some special systems: I will show some of this counterintuitive facts. I will also try to show the connection of this theory with other research fields of Differential Equations.
