Facilities


The department is currently housed in the Astronomy-Mathematics Building; it also has its own Mathematics Library which, apart from an extensive collection of books and journals (Books: Chinese, Korean and Japanese, 13587 volumes; Western languages ,70257 volumes; Journals: 742 titles; Theses and Reports: 993 volumes), also has four computers for searching journals.

The department has more than 100 personal computers and several scores of work stations as well as audio-visual equipment such as data projectors and multimedia computers. In addition, distance learning equipment is installed in Rooms 308 and 405 in the New Mathematics Building.

In recent years the department has actively adopted new digital technology, setting up a friendly and highly efficient learning environment. The design of the computer classrooms is centered on the students, encouraging them to cooperate and communicate and offering them personalized digital learning. The department has installed the newest high speed computing mainframe, parallel computer cluster, applications, files, backup, webpage, video-on-demand, etc., every kind of server complemented by software tools such as a complete set of scientific computing software, a database of mathematical formulae and programming development software. In addition, the department has installed high speed and wireless internet giving professors and students the convenience of using computing resources at any time and in any place. This advanced computing environment serves the development needs of the department, promotes excellence in research and teaching and will lead to a new era in research in the mathematical sciences and models for mathematics education.
