Contact tayilin@ntu.edu.tw | Dr. TA YI LIN is a distinguished executive in the business innovation and investment consulting industry, with over 20 years of experience in technology development and finance. His extensive career includes a decade of service in various government roles, including positions in the Office of the President, the Executive Yuan, the office of Minister in the Ministry of Justice, and as a director in a local county government in Taiwan. Dr. Lin also held a research position in Computer Science at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University in 2004. Upon his return to Taiwan, Dr. Lin's work has focused on the development of new business ventures aimed at revitalizing government real estate projects through mixed-use strategies. He has been instrumental in corporate and project-based operation, construction, and financing, with a particular emphasis on software, hardware, and semiconductor-related investments. Currently, Dr. Lin serves as the General Manager of a consulting firm in Taiwan, which he founded in November, 2007. Under his leadership, the firm has been responsible for strategic investment and development projects across Taiwan and Southeast Asia, managing projects with a cumulative value exceeding NT$20 billion. In 2020, Dr. Lin established Orkin Taiwan, a company specializing in pest management through traditional Integrated Pest Management (IPM) methods, as well as innovative technological approaches utilizing IT, IoT, and AI. Orkin Taiwan provides services to a wide range of clients, including warehouses, logistics companies, factories, restaurants, hotels, residential complexes, office buildings, food, and pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Lin is a founding member of the American Chamber in Taiwan and served as Chief Secretary on the Board of the Harvard Alumni Association in Taiwan. In academia, Dr. Lin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics in National Taiwan University(NTU) , where he taught a course on Mathematical Models in Industries for five years. Since 2016, he has been teaching courses on Big Data Applications and Theories. Dr. Lin holds a Ph.D. in Technology Innovation and Management from the Graduate School of Business at National Chengchi University in Taiwan. His academic background includes studies in mobile and network technology and business at both Harvard Business School and the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, NTU and a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Information Technology, NTU. Dr. Lin has received several accolades, including the Excellent Teacher Award from NTU, the Ph.D. Student Award from the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Genius Student Award from the Minister of Education in 1986.
