This course is devoted to the study of discrete dynamical systems. Topics to be covered include the period-doubling route to chaos, Sharkovsky's theorem, properties of chaotic maps, symbolic dynamics, invariant manifolds and linearization, iterated function systems and fractals, Julia and Mandelbrot sets.
