Continuing with the first symester, we shall study the following 1.Localization of virtual classes, by T. Graber and R. Pandharipande, Invent. Math. 135 (1999) 487-518. 2.Part III of the paper by A. Okounkov and R. Pandharipande, entitled "Gromov-Witten theory, Hurwitz numbers, and Matrix models, I". Math.AG/0101147. 3.Chapters 1-9 of "Intersection Theory", by William Fulton, Springer -Verlag, 1984. An important part of the paper of Okounkov-Pandharipande uses the Atiyah-Bott localization techniques developed by M. Kontsevich and algebraic geometers. The topics in above 1 and 3 are proposed to orient the participants in this direction. Nevertheless the topic 3 is already interesting in its own right and serves as a foundation for generalization of intersection theory to more general algebraic spaces.
